Hyroseeder

The District’s Hydroseeder is a unique machine on a perpetual quest to protect soil in Franklin County.  It is used to cover exposed earth with a mulch and seed mixture. The Hydroseeder results in less seed germination time than seeding by hand.  The “hydromulch” retains moisture while providing additional organic matter to the soil.  When applied, the mulch/seed mixture prevents erosion through an armor-type of cover protecting from rain and surface water flows.

The Hydroseeder is frequently used by road crews to establish grasses on newly excavated road ditches as well as gravel and sand pits being reclaimed.

The machine can be rented by an individual or a municipality.  For more information on the Hydroseeder program, rental prices, and material requirements please contact Andrew Snell at 483-4061 ext.110.
